At least the hard plastic/whatever that the Storm Trooper suit is made of would offer some kind of protection.

But with a light saber you can block/deflect those phaser blast... plus you can cut through almost anything!

OK, neither the saber nor phaser are real...However getting knocked upside the head with a replica should do some damage.
I'd have to say dressing up in a Star Trek uniform though, knew a guy who had one and wore it every so often. He caught hell for it.

I'm again going to go with the phaser blast😀 Hell, hold it for a continuous fire pattern and just wave that sh!t around. You're liable to hit SOMETHING 😀

Actually good point... hold the phaser in a continous fire pattern and it basically BECOMES a light saber with unlimited range!
 
dressing up like anyone from Star Trek, esp. after the original series ==> ass kicking

dressing up in certain Star Wars clothing, like Luke's 'Cloud City jacket' or just in all black like Luke in ROTJ, or in a Han Solo vest ==> permissable, and even desirable in the case of the Cloud City jacket
