A jumpkick is certainly the more powerful of the two.

your security system? What if theres 2 guys. Better be able to spread both legs to reach both.

I was with you until you said '9'. If you want the satisfaction of shooting him many times before he dies, go with the 22 Short. Otherwise, stick to something with a caliber that starts with at least a '4' (at least, with pistols, rifles are another story).

EDIT: A 9mm is acceptable, if it is a Glock 18 loaded with a 31 round magazine. Or a 9x23mm. Other than that...
