In the olden days, we had Archive threads.

A proposed hybrid system: Permit adding to threads, but don't bump them to the top. Sometimes it can be nice to have additional information added to an old thread, but....yeah, if it's something from 2003 and 80% of the thread's participants aren't even active members anymore, or if the subject in question isn't even relevant anymore, then bumping it to the top isn't all that useful.



(On-topic: They all use NOAA data to a large degree. I like Wunderground's more detailed interface, and their graphical weekly forecast tool is the best thing that's ever happened to online weather sites.)
