Which is louder?

just wondering.....who the F cares? and why? what will it determine?? I'm sure anyone on these forums have a rig with at least three case fans that will drown out the sound anyways.....

Don't assume on behalf of the entire forum. Everyone has a different rig, your "theories" on case fans and noise are useless.

ok then, how about one good reason for comparing the decible level between the two cards...then a reason why it would matter, and then a reason why one would be better for any reason concerning the decible level...and how much of a difference it would make...

then this thread actually has a point, sorry. My statements aren't theories, just my opinions and assumptions, which I never said was the answer to his question.

By your own admission you're doing nothing but spamming the thread. He's asking a question and if you don't have anything useful to add then get the f out.

Well, if you read my post, you might see some questions in it. which means I am actually adding to the thread and not spamming, much like your post above...

So, I am really curious now what the differences would be, and why they would matter...seriously. Is it just a preference or a reasoning for it? would you like to add to the thread bar81 or try to flame me?

It matters, cause not everyone has a loud system with too many case fans. I have one case fan. It's a Panaflo L1A spinning @ ~ 1500 rpm. Most stock video card coolers are too noisy for people with quiet PCs.

*whirrrirrrrirrrirr*
Video cards make noise?
*whirrrirrrrirrrirr*
Never would have guessed...
*whirrrirrrrirrrirr*

My server room at work < my home computer when it comes to *whirrrirrrrirrrirr*

I think the Gt is fairly loud. My case has 2 120 mm fans runnning around 20 dba. Moreover, my power supply is the Antec 380 True. I also have a Thermaltake Silent boost for a heatsink (21dba). All and all, my PC is no longer silent since i installed the GT. In my opinion , my old 9800 pro was more quiet.

6800 GT's are very low noise (the two [PNY & BFG] I have owned anyways). I have a fairly quiet system (all fans are < 25db) and I have never heard the GT fan.

edit - I had a Hercules 9800pro before this and that was touted as one of the quietest 9800's (aside from ones with VGA silencers) ... both GT's I have owned are quieter. I think some people just got unlucky with their specific cards .... yeah they are all reference model fans supposedly all the same specs ... but plenty of times in the past have I bought 'identical' cards that performed and/or sounded different.

I am along the same line. I like having a fairly quiet pc, but is the decible level of the card going to sway you one way or another on a $400 purchase? That wouldnt seem logical from my point of view. If one is 10db louder, would you not buy it based on that? that's the only reason I got a bit out of control over this thread.

It matters cause I don't want a jet engine in my computer

The gt is not a loud card, my case fans are louder. it is no louder than a power supply.
