Seeing that the limitation to most Conroe overclocks is the fsb then you would want to go with the cpu with the highest multiplier, hence the E6400 with it's 8x multipier over the E6300's 7x multi.

It's easier to OC with the E6400. 8x400 and you can set the vcore pretty low. At least that's my case. The E6300 will be hotter because it starts at a lower speed and requires more vcore to reach 3GHz than the E6400.

I want to use Gigabyte 965P-DS4 (DS4 have Silent-Pipe and very cooler than DS3 for 25$) then with E6400 @ 3GHz 8x400 I need how much More Vcore? and tell me whats Stock voltage of Core 2

PS: I dont like P5B and DQ6 because I dont want reach FSB 525MHz!!! My Max is 3GHz

ok...multiplier really doesn't have much impact. simply because the motherboard will only allow the FSB to go to a certain level, 1 more multiplier can only add a few more MHz. so the e6300 can give you the best value!

Way to live up to your username. There is a big difference between say, a processor clocked @ 3.2Ghz (8x400) and another @ 2.8Ghz (7x400). The last time I checked a 400mhz difference is a little more then a "few MHz." When FSB is your limiting factor, as is the case with Conroe, you should always attempt to start with the highest possible multiplier.

Look at my signature ;)

I would go for the E6400. You can reach the same target (3.2GHz) with the E6300, but you will need good RAM for that.

Get the E6400, the DS4 (update to bios F3) and DDR2-800 ram. You are can get 3.2GHz easily on this combo.

PS: The E6300 at 3.15GHz (7x450) can benchmark a bit better than the E6400 at 3.2GHz (8x400) depending on the application.

Tell me your E6400 @ 3.2GHz temps in idle and Load (with your cooler)

When I ran my E6400 at stock speed, the Vcore is 1.265. The DS4's not available in the US market yet, only the DQ6 and DS3. If you want your system now, it'll have to be the DS3.

I have Access to DS4 for 177$ and DS3 for 152$ and DQ6 for 240$

My E6300 does 3220mhz (460*7) under volted...

Well, lucky you. When kind of eggs do you like on your E6300?

I don't understand. You posted the link to the bunk PDF claiming how the P5B Deluxe was better than Gigabyte's board yet you want to buy a gigabyte board?

I write this thread before finding "P5B Deluxe was better than Gigabyte's board PDF"

As they are running almost at the same speed and using same VCore, using Core Temp I get from 55 to 59C while running Orthos. For iddle temp. deduct 10C.

This is not the BIOS temp or Easytune5 temp. They are much lower than Core Temp.

If I could go back, I would only buy the DS4. Has everything you need, it seems to clock better than the DQ6 and doesn't have the "crazy cool" backplate to screw you up when installing complex coolers. And it's 50 bucks cheaper.

Problem wasthe IHS, wich was bent. After lapping it dual prime temps dropped to 57.

But I would go for E6400, so you would be little less dependant on the mobos O/C'ing capasity
