Thats just one reason the seti client should be open sourced
On a side note, FreeBSD and Linux's performance on decent non-smp or 2 processor machines is pretty close for many tasks. Im seeing a few reports that FreeBSD is doing much better in the networking dept though, even against a 2.4 kernel.
