Which is faster barton 2500@2.2ghz or Tbred 1800@2.4ghz?

As titled, barton 2500+ tend to hit around 3200+ speeds(2.2ghz), and a common overclock for the tbred 1800+ is around 2.4ghz, so which is faster at their respective overclocked speeds?

The reason I ask this is because i have both, barton on my main machine, wonder if i need to swap it out and put the tbred in if its faster?

Well, I'd say use the one that is running at the faster FSB. Since they both seem to be around 200 FSB, you're best bet would be to benchmark them yourself.

The Barton does have double the L2 cache (512k) vs. the Tbred, but not all applications/games have a noticeable performance gain from the extra cache.

I would definately say the 1800+....i had a 1700+ at 2.067ghz and now have a 2500+ at 2.2ghz and there is hardly, if at all a real world difference between the two.

is the probability of hitting 2.4ghz high on a 1800+ tbred? If so, why are you only at 2.067 with your 1700+? or is that a palamino?

1800+ for that speeds.

just because barton has larger cache wont give it the edge at lower clock speeds,
if you were to compare same speeds,
then the barton would win by about 5% I believe...

No, it's only high on the right stepping. Like the one I have in my sig. All of the others are pretty much hit n' miss.

Like he said the probablity is usually "hit n' miss". The highest I can get my tbred is 2.3ghz stable, but with a lot of voltage. I haven't tried any higher FSB because I only have pc3200 RAM, and I satisfied to be running at 200fsb.

on my 1800 im at 1804mhz stock hsf stock vcore runs cool. i want to go farther but my mobo cant do it. it could definitely hit 2.0 stock hsf, 2.2 on air, 2.4 with a ok water kit, maby even 2.5 with a good one. But I cant tell what one will be faster.

the 1800+ is faster with that speed
to get barton = tbred, the barton has to be 100MHZ lower then the tbred to equal the performence

example: Barton 3200+ 2.2ghz = Tbred 2.3ghz 3200+ both with 400FSB!!!!

------------------------------------------------------
AMD Athlon XP T-Bred B DLT3C 1700+ @ 2.3GHZ (1.775v) 400FSB = 3200+
Abit NF7-S V.2 (nforce 2 400U)
Corsair TwinX XMS 3200LL 512MB @ 2-3-2-6 (2.6v)
Sapphire Radeon 9500 Pro 128MB
Antec TrueBlue 480W
Thermalright SLK-947U with 92mm Vantec Tornado @2800RPM
Maxtor 91531U3 15GB
2x Western Digital WD400BB 40GB serials
Antec PlusView 1000AMG
