Which is better?

I have 2 one-gig sticks of Patriot RAM. I purchased them in a mobo combo from Monarch. I noticed they are set to 1T timing but are in single channel. Is it better to be in 2T with Dual-channel enable or is better to stay in 1T with single channel? Would I need to change the configuration of the sticks? Right now they are in the 1 and 3 slots, for dual channel do they need to be right next to each other? How do I activate dual-channel? Is it in the BIOS?
Lots of questions, thanks for the help everyone.

As theman stated, check out your manual for what slots need to be populated for dual channel.

I think 2T dual channel vs 1T single channel would be better, but I'm not sure.

you can run 1T and dual channel, since you only have 2 sticks. to run dual channel, just put the sticks in the red channels
