Which is better?

I think it depends on the individual model. If I had to buy a camcorder *right now*, I'd buy the Sony HDR-FX1. A few months ago, I would have said the Panasonic DVX-100a. A few months from now, my guess is that I'd pick whatever Panasonic comes out with to compete with the HDR-FX1.
