Which is better: Xvid or DiVX?

I don't know, but I'd imagine it depends on what you are looking for. Unless one is better for both size and quality. 😕

they are practically identical in output in my experience. I must've encoded about 50-100 files using either of those encoders in the last 2 months and the results are the same... output time and quality.

I stick with divx because the decoder is more widely used though.

I typically use DivX 5.12, seems to encode the fastest for me. Though, its been a while since I encoded something with XviD, I should give it a test run with one of my DVDs.
