Now that I decided to oc which would be better to oc my card quietly? The artic cooling ati silencer 1 Text

or the Arctic Cooling VGA Silencer (Rev 3) Text. Where is the best price on this? Thanks.

You may want to get a better cooler. I looked and anandtech had a pretty early one that could hit almost 400mhz core, so you never know.

I can oc my 9700pro to 396 core 341 mem without issue. I have a zalman heatpipe with a low noise fan on a bracket blowing on it. No stability problems what so ever, but only a couple of games where it makes a noticable difference (doom3 being one). So as a result I rarely oc, but I may return one day to Doom3 and finish it.

Heh... if you play a lot at high res then maybe its worth it. Mine is at 380/340... havent tried any higher. I've gotten some dud ones before... stuck at 350/330... or 360/335.

i play cs:s mostly... from stock 325/310 to 380/340 i gained maybe 5-10 more frames at 1280x960. If you think that's worth it... hey you can try. More than likely you'll need to upgrade the heatsink... which would mean voiding your warranty. I've had couple of dud 9700s which wouldn't go past 350 even with a new heatsink... if you still think its worth it then hey give it a shot.

Text The Rev 3 is cheaper... IIRC svc.com had a deal for $15 a month ago. I don't know if you can find it cheaper elsewhere...

TextThe silencer one is $25 at most places. You will have to cut a piece out for it to fit your 9700 Pro.

Here's a review of it. 🙂 Don't expect miracles.

Sorry, just noticed your questions. I bought the card about 18 months ago and I use ATI tool to test my oc.
