<< Macs are good

For Kicking : P
>>

Windows is good, FOR ME TO POOP ON! Sorry, that was one of like 2 things from the Conan(?) show that I could stand 😉[/i] >>

i would take a mac w/ osx over an x86 w/ windows anyday. no comparison. and conan 0wnz j00!

darn! ive been NOT exposed to mac for all my 14 years of life! i do use them at school though, and i know its just my own fault, not knowing how to use an apple machine, it hinders my effeciency on mac. i havent seen mac OS X yet, but is there like a taskbar/navigation bar like in windows? reason being, in school, if i have multiple windows open, its hard for me to switch apps/windows because you actaully have to click on the window to go there is that right? so if i had a lot of windows open, i have to sort through them to find the other application i was using. another question i had about macs is how do you upgrade the hardware?! the imacs at school all have hardware built right into the monitor! the CD drive is actually a slot loading IN THE MONITOR! and the floppy is external. just wondering...im planning on getting a laptop, so i might want to try out mac after hearing all about the OS X being so good. expensive tho...:/... anyway, gonna go search for some OS x screenshots now!!

They both have their usefulness and functionality. I have my main rig, which is a PC, but recently I started putting together a basic wintel box and then had access to a TON of old macs (120mhz ppc's, the old all-in-one mac units). It runs reasonably fast, but when I compare it to my basic p133, the Pentium kicks the pants off of the mac. They have the same RAM and similar programs running, and they both have DSL internet access. I know there are a lot of factors to take into account, and the example I'm giving is on VERY old hardware, but that's just my experience. 🙂

There used to be the agruement that you needed a PC to play any good games, and this is still fairly true, but more and more are being ported to the Mac.

Customizability is hands-down a PC virtue. I'd like to see a Mac user have the guts to do some case mods on that beautiful case... then again, there isn't much to improve. Macs ARE good looking (except the new imac.. bleh).

Here's a funny thing, though: Every friend I've known who was a die-hard mac user, who was then introduced to the PC, became a die-hard PC user. I don't see it happen the other way around too often, unless someone is getting into strictly video editing and photoshop work, plus suddenly has $$ shooting out their ass.

That's all I gotta say 😀

<< what kind of silly questiom is this? let me ask you what is better pizza or chickenwings? >>

i concur. at the same time, neither one is inferior. that seems to be the assumption of many Wintel machine users. keep an open mind. =)

i wish people were more open minded. most insults against macs arent because of reasonable problems, but are pathetic childish insults coming from some l33t d00d who runs XP and plays counterstrike. i hate people like that. </bitching>

My mind is always open, I've changed it many times! By the way what does wintel mean?

hey now, lets not be criticizing the counterstrike goodness 🙂

i run xp on my gaming system (starcraft, cstrike, dod, and civ3 mostly), but i never claim the superiority of it. xp is fine for 90% of my desktop needs, im sure a new mac loaded w/ osx would be too (well, not realy, no game support).

for me, the argument about platform superiority is simple. what role does my computer have to play. one of my machines needs to be reliable desktop(read, machine i dont reconfigure daily) and support all my games, another needs to be stripped down basic SECURE ip nat box to share my cable modem and run apache and sshd, i need another that i can play around with and do compsci type crap on, and i want a laptop i can take with me to class and work on in the library on campus.

the only role i think a mac can play with my computing needs is the laptop. and to tell you the truth, titaniums are too expensive and ibooks look too slow for the money. i mean 1500$ should buy me more laptop than apple offers. which means im missing a chance to use OSX, which sucks but hey.

if i could get a developement environment for OSX under academic license (read cheap), then it might be a different story. until then, im not gonna spend the money on a new apple when vim and g++ are fine.

basically i'm just annoyed by all the moron gamers who think they're some big geek cus they know how to plug in a video card and add ram, but when it comes to an OS they all crap on everything but what they use (windows), not because they have valid arguments, but because they are morons. there are alot of these people and they annoy me. anyways.
