Which is better? Generic 512MB PC133 SDRAM for 65 dollars or Kingmax 256MB PC150 SDRAM for 42 dollars? (edited)

512MB of PC-133 SDRAM.

If it's good quality RAM, chances are you'll be able to clock it at 150MHz anyways!

Completely depends on the application, whether it relies more on latency or available physical memory.

Another thing to keep in mind is that it's not all that easy to hit 150 MHz, your CPU, motherboard, & PCI devices all have to be able to handle it.

If you're going to overclock to 133Mhz bus, then get the PC150. If not, get the 512.

Kinda like what's better...a navigator or a navigator limo?

They're the same thing essentially, once's just got twice the space.

It will only be faster if you overclock your computer to a 150Mhz bus, if you're not going to do it, just go with the 512.

so does that mean that all motherboards don't support the 150mhz, and that they have to be overclocked in order to support it?

What OS..... If yer 9x than go for the pc150 & OC yer sh!t. if yer 2k than go 512 since it will actually use it.

Some motherboards let you bump up just the RAM. I can add +33 to my RAM speed on my mobo. My memory now is running at 147Mhz (114 + 33).

I am going to buy 512M of 150Mhz generic junk tomorrow. Anyone want to buy my 256M stick of 133Mhz Muskin Rev2?

Dunno. Going to the local computer show. Pricewatch has it cheapest for $30 per 256M stick of PC150. I am willing to shell out $40 per stick if it's a decent brand. Heck, if I find a decent brand for $40/256M I will buy a gig.

edit: Oh you mean how much for the Mushkin? I was kind of just kidding being I paid like $200 for it in January and I would be lucky to get $50 for it now :(
