My dryer only has low heat or high heat. I've also used medium heat for about 50 minutes.

Which is better for my clothes, 30 minutes on high heat or 90 minutes on low heat?

High heat is bad but so is the extra hour of tumbling.

i'm going to go with 30 minutes on high heat

EDIT: sorry i thought you asked which is worse. i'd say 90 minutes on low is better.

i would hope you have variable timer. i never put anything on high unless they are heavy-duty (whites), or im intentionally trying to shrink something.

otherwise its low for minimal time needed

If you have sturdy cotton clothes the extra tumbling shouldn't be a problem. High heat would also shrink things a bit more.

30 min on high.

Edit: misread. Thought it said which is worse. 30 min on high is worse. 90 min on low is better.

Well, I put them in for 60 minutes on low and they were still wet. Took an additional 30 minutes to get them mostly dry. 90 minutes and they are still a bit damp, but thats ok.

Heh, I changed the OP to lessen my own confusion.

It really depends on the types of fabrics in the clothing, but I use low heat for almost everything nowadays. FAR too many clothing items can't stand the heat of a hot dryer. They may become mis-shapen as the fabric shrinks different ways, or it may just shrink so much that you'll lose a couple of sizes...then you could give them to your 8 year old brother.

What kind of dryer?

High heat on a low end model might be like a med on some higher end models.

Also make sure the exhust line to the dryer is clean and has no kinks. This will affect performnace as well.

I use high heat on my dryer because any other setting takes forever to dry. Even on high heat (for a week's worth of clothing + a set of towels) takes a minimum of an hour to dry. I've found that things only shrink the first time they go through the dryer. After that, they maintain their size.

10 minutes medium, then put on hanger to air dry.
being in a dryer is bad for cloth, thats why lint filters get filled up, your clothes are being abraded.
