which is better - 478 P4 1.9@400mhz or Celeron 2.8@533mhz?

wondering which is the better CPU, both cost the same. The celeron has better specs but its not a P4 (to be installed in a Shuttle XPC SB6162 mini cube - with onboard video)

thanks

I have a question too. However, how is a Northwood P4 at 2.66 and 533 FSB (512 L2 Cache) compared to a Celeron D at same speed?

Since both of them have the same FSB, the only difference is the core. The celeron has prescott core with 256K L2 Cache.

Correct me if i am wrong. The Northwood P4 and the celeron Prescott are probably equivalent in terms of performance. Right?

Northwood has a lower latency cache than prescott, so a northwood will be faster than a Celeron-D at the same speed. Actualy in a lot of things, the northwood is faster than a prescott P4 at lower clock speeds. My northwood @3.45ghz was faster at gaming, rendering, and MP3 encoding than my prescott @3.82ghz. The prescott was faster at video encoding, and rendering that took advantage of SSE3.

Northwood P4@533 will be considerably faster than prescott celeron@533.
