Which is better, 4.4.4 KitKat or Lollipop 5.1.1?

Note 4 tmobile wifi calling on Lollipop is very hit or miss, I have to turn it off/on constantly. Laggier imo but I don't have the time to downgrade it put all my stuff back on it.

I have been on 4.4.4. I am horrified by all those battery usage screenshots where some mix of "Cell Standby," "Android System," "Android OS," "Phone Idle," "Google Services," or "Google Services Framework" tops the chart by massive margins. Thank you but no thank you, Google.

Those are just charts, my battery life is still better on lollipop.

I really like Lollipop. Just laggy as hell. I miss KitKat. Had my Note 3 rooted just the way I liked it. GPS started acting flaky and I unrooted and then updated. Now, the GPS worked for a bit then started doing the same crap all over again. Now, I'm having problems with all sorts of stuff. Very frustrating.

Anyone have the Nexus 6 and how do you like it?

There are very good impressions of Note 4 5.1.1 roms on XDA, which is a far cry from earlier versions of Lollipop. I've said I was going to stick with KK based on horror stories of the earlier LP builds, but I'm not so sure anymore. KK has been incredibly stable but the slow app switcher is annoying.

Nothing can be done about S5 terribad performance on lollipop. I experienced the same thing even on a factory reset after wiping everything I could.

4.4.4 Kitkat is much better, especially battery life - I went for a Custom rom and I picked Alliance 4.4.4. You can still get the Google Launcher (which is what I use). Amazingly enough it has more lag than the TouchWhiz interface, but its far faster than Lollipop.

I think that there is more than just a memory leak issue? I was just typing out an email when it became lag city. Huge amounts of keyboard lag. Switching apps took forever. I went to go see what my available RAM was but it was still pretty high. After a little bit the responsiveness went back to normal all on its own and there was no lag. I didn't close any programs during this time. If anything, I opened up new ones.

Soooo... this seems to me like a background app issue taking up too much CPU. Any way to check and see which processes are hogging resources?

Performance was better with 4.4.4 and it was rock solid stable. 5.0 and 5.1 could use some more polish and it uses more RAM but other than that, I prefer most of the improvements in Lolipop even though there's a few I could do without.

Upgraded to Lollipop on my OnePlus One, then downgraded to KitKat again. It's slightly faster, battery life is much better and there are fewer annoying glitches and bugs.

Lollipop is the Windows ME of Android, and I'll skip it completely.

Most days I do ok on 5.1.1.

But once in a while, the mobile radio active bug strikes, and my batter craters in record time. Fortunately I can swap, or reboot if I see it happening.

I use i9505 galaxy s4 and LP 5.0 was slow in my opinion I paid a shop to odin my phone back to Kitkat 4.4.2 then migrated to custom 4.4.4 which is the final kitkat version it should of had officially done instead of LP and it is faster than LP by a long shot

I have used K.k and lolipop both as per my experience 5.0 is quite buggy and as kitkat was super light OS of android its able to run on phone having ram like 512 mb as well so if you are looking for better performance then go with k.k and if you are looking for more interesting features then you can go with 5.0
