Hi, I am going to buy this motherboard for high fsb overclocking only, and I am thinkig about those two, they also have Pci divider 5\1 and threre are differences 13xmultiplayer max on Abit board, 15xmax on Epox, voltage up to 1,85v on abit on epox up to 2,2v, ram`s voltage also a lot of higher possibility on Epox, but I would like to achieve on locked Athlonxp1600+ or 1700+ which is better unlocked is my question also,, and wouldn`t be Epox with this multiplayer better buy to future then abit?? both in tests were running Athlonxp1600+ locked on 166fsb. But also don`t know about your experiences with these two, and like to heard advice to future of my next mobo ;)

could somebody compare these two??? from experience with them and from what I write. Also I read that Abit is supporting on this mobo max 2100+ and further processors, but multiplayer only 13x?? is it possible??like automatic detection when I will have processor with 15x multiplayer??

as for sure, my mistake about 1600+ 1700+ is my question, if 1700+ locked could do 166fsb with pci divider 1\5 also like 1600+

What did you end up getting? The kx7 needs to be rma'ed and modded by ABIT for 2200+'s to work. otherwise u'd have to unlock it.

Your qualifing statement of "High speed FSB overclocking ONLY" basically limits your choice to three motherboards:

1) Epox 8K5A2
2) Epox 8K5A2+
3) Epox 8K5A3+

There a few other boards out there, but why bother ?

Insane3D has a ton of experience here, wait for his input, it'll most likely be one of these, & he'll tell you why.

Gettin late 3D - where are you ?

I like the Epox 8k3a+ just purchased one myself.. It's nice not having to solder some wires for extra cpu voltage... the Epox has 2.2vcore..
On the abit you it's 1.85 stock.. w/o vmods..

The Abit is a bit cheaper, but the Epox has more features..

Epox 8K5A2 is newer and has USB.2.0 over the older Epox 8KA3,if you need RAID then get the Epox 8K5A2+version,it also supports all AMD socket A cpus including XP 2200+ and T-bred.Great overclocker.
:)

Have a look in the Official

Epox thread ,lots of good info there.

Sounds like you answered your own question. Either board will be fine, and you should be able to o/c with both. Read up on both boards and decide which is best for your needs and budget. :)

YoDa !
ABIT Vs EPOX DeathMatch 2002 ! The Winner gets to eat the losers CPU, while wearing the loosers choice of intimate apparel from Fredricks of Hollywood.

The Looser has to wear the Motherboard around their neck like an albatross and appear on the Osbornes.

Cruel and unusual punishment. Think we could make it a weekly series on Prime time?

while wearing the loosers choice of intimate apparel from Fredricks of Hollywood.

The "multiplier issue" is not a big issue because upcoming CPUs like Barton will use a 166MHz FSB..... So they won't need a too high multiplier.

Don't worry about that.

YoDa,

The Osbornes - Is the stupid reality show on MTV where Ozzy Osborne and his aimless family curse and do pointless things on television,
since they have more money than brains. This is the posterchild for drug abuse, and the genetic damage to prove it.

Did I mention that the EPOX is NOT allowed to have the CPU installed during the DeathMatch ?

There - that ought to put an end to that mature, inteligent conversation.

Beware the Bithlo Radar ! (inside joke)
