Which INTEL SSD Driver should I download and install

I have a Samsung 850 EVO 500 GB SSD. I installed the latest Samsung Magician software and when I click on the "System Compatibility" tab I get an error (!) which says:

"DRIVER
Intel Corporation 14.5.0.1081

Under the current system environment, some function in Magician CANNOT be run. To enable these Magician function and ensure optimal performance it is recommended to: Visit website below and update drive to the latest version

https://downloadcenter.intel.com/product/55005/-rst"

PC Specs are below

Windows 10 Pro 64 Bit
INTEL Core i5-6600
ASUS H170 PRO GAMING LGA 1151 Intel H170 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

A) Should I be downloading version 15.5.0.1051?
B) After I click into the version in A, which file do I download? I see three and I am not familiar with Optane and RST?

I am also worried I do not see version 14.5.0.1081 listed in the previous versions so I want to make sure this is the right driver? If I had to guess I would download the "SetupRST.exe" one...is this right?

Thank you in advance!!! Always appreciate your help
Robert

PS yes I did build this PC so if you have any other questions let me know, I could have missed something.

The default Windows driver is faster. Also, what version of Magician are you running? I never had that error code pop up, and I've used both the Intel and Microsoft driver before.

The latest RST version is the one you listed ending in 1051. However, RST isn't something most people need to install. I don't use it anymore once I discovered the Microsoft driver is faster for my 850 EVO.

Thank you. I am running Magician 5.1.0. So Basically I should just stay put and not enable RAPID Mode?

FYI my latest benchmark is as follows? Sound good to you?

Sequential (MB/s)
READ 529
WRITE 485

Random (IOPS)
READ 85,895
WRITE 73,405

Those scores look in line with what reviewers get, so you are good.

You can use Rapid mode if you want to. It makes the scores look amazing in synthetic benchmarks, but has minimal 'real world' impact. Dumbing it down, it basically uses some of your memory and creates a RAM drive. It will really doesn't hurt anything. I don't use it for my desktop, but I ran in on my laptop for a few months to see if it felt any different. It really didn't hurt or help anything though.

Here's an older thread posted here discussing it:

Thank you so much. Last question. It does appear I am using that driver I listed. Can you point me to the where I can find the original microsoft windows 10 driver. As what I am reading and you what you mentioned it is faster with less issues.

OK cool and I am not running RAID. I have my OS and all program type items on the SSD and then all games and gaming DRM on my WD BLACK 5 TB HDD. I guess the best advice is to just leave it be as my numbers seem to be in line.

Sequential (MB/s)
READ 529
WRITE 485

Random (IOPS)
READ 85,895
WRITE 73,405

Thank you everyone unless anyone else has any feedback.

You should be able to use this to "downgrade" to the standard AHCI driver:

But your numbers are already pretty much in line with what I was able to get with the Microsoft driver. My scores from my earlier thread I linked to were significantly slower than that. So you can roll the driver back, or just stay with what you have.

If you are running windows 10 you need to uninstall the intel rapid storage program. It does not work with windows 10 and will cause conflicts with Samsung Magician. Samsung Magician will show the exact error that you have indicated in your post. The drivers will still be microsoft drivers for the SSD. I had this same issue...after uninstalling the intel rapid storage program I ran the Samsung Magician program performance test.... Sequential (MB/s): Read is 545 and write is 525. Random (IOPS): Read 92,529, Write 62,011. Startup was quicker and programs ran quicker after making this change.
