I am putting together a micro system and I have two boards avialable. I'll be using a socket 775 Pentium 4 530 CPU and a PNY 7600GT along with 1 1/2 GB Corsiar XMS. Which is the faster, more useful chipset in your opionon and why? I don't plan on using the onboard video. I have an ATI 1800xt I can use also.

ATI Radeon Xpress 200 Chipset (Intel D101Ggc Mico board)

or

Intel 915G (ECS micro board)

Also Windows XP or Vista 32 Home Premium? Any thoughts or recommemdations.

TIA

Either should be fine, assuming they are comparable in terms of onboard peripherals.

Normally I'd say the intel chipset should be rock-solid, but while I've had good luck with ECS, their reputation isn't so good.

I think the ECS 915G has more BIOS options like RAM CAS settings. I can not remember if the Intel D101Ggc micro has adjustments for the CAS. Anyone know about this? Currently I have the CPU/HSF installed on the ECS 915g. I'm debating whether to install it on the Intel Radeon Xpress 200 board. The Intel board is newer and supports socket 775 Dual Core CPU's. That's a plus. I don't have a Pentium D though 8).
