Flying from Boston to San Fran in a few weeks and have not flown on either airlines. Which one has more leg room in coach? Anything else I should know?

Its gonna be a 6 hour flight + 4 hour drive....Good times man, good times!! FWIW: $420 round trip, non-stop.

Alaskan ftw.

More important than the airline in terms comfort might be what airplane you are in, but I'm not sure how that could be determined.

Don't know if it's changed in the last 5 years or not, but at one time United had a "Plus" passenger seating class in coach that was rather comfortable.

The most important thing would be to pick the flight with the better/newer plane. Also make sure you aren't looking at the same flight ;) I believe Alaskan & American have code shares with each other, so even though it's an Alaskan flight # it may be operated by American or someone else.
