Which good mobo for Athlon with DDR RAM?

Asus(A7M266?) or Epox(8K7A), which one is better? Any other suggestions?

Will buy in a week or two, I don't think the nForce board will be out then.

Stability is the most important factor. No hard core gaming intended.

I dont think you can get Epox in HongKong, but you surely can get 2TheMax.

The Epox 8k7a and 8k7a+ are nice boards at a nice price.... but if you want a Rolls Royce, go with the Asus A7M266. 😀

Yeah...ok. How did you come to refer to the Asus as the "Rolls Royce". It can't adjust the multiplier, and most can't even hit high FSB's because of the lack of multiplier control. Also, you get a useless CNR/AMR slot, and only 5 PCI slots... Sounds more like a Hyundai to me...😛 😉

hehe-I went shopping for a ddr board a few weeks back with my cousin-I haven't kept up with ddr mobos since I got a KT133a a while back-surprised to see hardly any mobos offering multiplier adjustment-I knew many ppl on AT were using Epox'es but since I thought HK didn't have them the only option was...............2themax😀

I had expected the Asus to have the works but instead MUCH disappointment

Of the two you listed the Asus is more stable IMO but the Epox is a better OC, depends on what you want to do. You might also consider the Giga-Byte. I have used all three of those boards and favor the Giga-Byte with the Asus second choice and Epox 3rd. i had problems with my Epox RAID controller but it could be a bad board and isolated circumstance.

For anybody who wants to buy Epox in Hong Kong:
2theMax motherboard=Epox motherboards.

2theMax is only a marketing company with no manufacturing facility. They buy mobos from Epox and stick their brand label on the boards.

Also anyone can confirm Asus is more stable than Epox? To me stability is THE most important factor, OC feature is not so important.

I vote for the Epox 8K7A. I use it in my main rig and it's been incredibly stable, especially considering it's running Windows 98SE. Good board for a great price! 🙂
