Nah, fvck that. Making a modern version of a retro car is cool. I love the new Mustang.

I'd love to see a retro version of the Chevelle SS with lines closely matching the original and power to match with a modern drivetrain, brakes and chassis. It would be a thing of beauty. Put the same 400hp engine the GTO has in it. They'd sell a million of them.
 
is there a list of cars that have come back after they have been discontinued?

off the top of my head,

GTO, Mustang, Thunderbird, Monte Carlo (I think)...

You don't see the conundrum that creates for GM's long term brand image? What are they going to do in 30-40 years, create a retro version of a retro version? There will be no cars to create a retro version of.
 
I don't think there are any cars as big as a Chevelle or Bel Air anymore, so if they were to do those they would end up looking like a 4:5 model car mock up.

Never really like the styling of the nova, not that they weren't fast.

A Camaro SS would be sweet.

Well, if they don't stop producing crappy bland looking cars NOW they won't be around in 30-40 years to create a retro version of a retro version. So, no...I don't see this as a problem at all.

Mustang was never discontinued.

There is a whole line of sedans and coupes that had various names that have come and gone and been resurrected over the years...too many to list really.
