I am building a computer and I need a MX to hold me over until I can afford a GF3. Which MX do people recommend?

If your planning on going with a gf3 in the future get the cheapest mx you can find!
None will give you a worthwhile improvement over another so dont waste ur time!

Avoid the mx 200 like the plague because it suxs big time, if you just want a card to last until you get a GF3 then for the price of an average MX you could have a Kyro 2 which is faster than every MX I've seen and it costs the same, atleast in the UK it does.

Spend a few bucks more and get a card that's twice as powerful and more future-proof than the crappy, underpowerd GeForce2 MX: a GeForce2 GTS.

If I am going to upgrade to a GF3 later, I don't see the advantage of getting a better board than an MX, especially since the games I am playing right now don't require it. Is the MX200 really that bad for playing older (1999) games?

depends on how long it'll take you to afford the GF3 (but if it's less than a year)

get the Radeon LE
if you OC it and then tweak the Hyper-Z you're golden
if you do that it'll beat the MX (I dunno about the MX400 or the GTS, etc. - but I expect it should be able to hold it's own with them)

The Radeon Le is only around $70
This will save you money - and that money will help you get the GF3 sooner

But if you only want to get GeForces, then, get anything but the MX 200

here are the tests that show the LE doing great (look at it's stats when it is OCed and has the Hyper-Z - that'll give you a good idea as to how good it is...)

edit -
You asked "Which GF2 MX should I get?" and even though this isn't a GF2, I think you'd be better off with it... that's just my opinion though
