Hi.
Ive decided to treat myself to a game.
Out of the above, which would you choose?
Here are a run down of the choices;

Splinter Cell: Pandora Tommorrow
For
Loved the first SC game. It looks good. Supposidely awsome MP game as well. Been awaiting it for ages. Very atmospheric.
Against
SC didnt exactely run really well on my system. It`d do 1280x1024xmax everything at around 40fps, but it would drop in very very shadow intensive parts of levels, which forunately, there was only 2-3 in the game that made it stutter.

Far Cry - DVD Edition
For
Played the 2nd demo, runs like a dream, at almost max everything (apart from shadows), at 1280x1024, everytime you play a level, its different. I like the fact that some of the outdoor levels are HUGE, and theres almost no load points mid-level. Supposed to be good MP as well. On one DVD disk(cool!)
Against
Dont know if the full version will run as well as the second demo did, the first ran like crap. Not overly keen on the indoor sections, much prefer the outdoor areas of the game, and ive heard its like 60/40 for outdoor/indoor areas in the game. And i get a few rendering errors in the demo, on rocks, but i think thats cos ive got AF on.

Unreal Tournament 2004 - DVD Edition
For
Its Unreal. The new vechicles and gameplay modes make it like Tribes for the masses, which is good. Im already very good at UT2003, vs Bots anyway. Looks pretty good. Excellent netcode, big MP community. The SP bots aparently will also man the vechicles with you if you ask them too, which the bots in Tribes2 do not. Aparently, you can use a mic to control the bots, which`ll cut down on distractions from using the chat menu.
Against
As with SC, UT2003 didnt run that well on my system, i had to turn down quite a few of the effects to get a decent frame rate. UT2003 seemed short lived in SP mode. Got bored after a week or so in UT2003, not sure on what UT2004 will be like.

Other...
List yourselves!

Heres my system.(the parts that`ll affect the performance in games anyway, for the rest of the parts, check my sig).

Splinter Cell: I too loved the first one, but was pretty dissapointed with Pandora Tomorrow. It was fairly boring, and lacked the tense situations of the first one. It seemed like a rushed through product they just wanted to get out the door. Not a BAD game by any means, but, dissapointing.

UT2004: Great fun. No real point to the game, but a fun game to pick up and play for a bit here and there.

Far Cry: Great game in my opinion. Besides the excellent graphics, there was some really quality AI, some great tense moments, and good fun to be had. The end of the game was a tad hard and more than a little frustrating, and I'm not sure if they've patched the game to allow saves anywhere (rather than the checkpoints), but those are my only gripes

Im swaying toward Far Cry DVD Edition.
Then maybe next month, SC: PT.

Any more than 5 votes to be had?

I just bought it. I think it's cool as hell. I can't imagine if you liked Worms2/WA/WWP that you could possibly not like it since it's essentially the same game.

The gameplay takes some getting used to (should be able to toggle between camera-relative and worm-relative movement, IMO), but otherwise, it's still great after all these years.

FAR CRY > splinter cell

your system should be able to handle far cry, althought your cpu might hold you back.

I am actually halfway thru (I think ) FARCRY and I absolutely love the graphics and gameplay. Some of the monsters are pretty hard to kill so you may want to
start at normal mode.

peace

Which is why im not interested in it. Its got that gothic feel to it, like that game a while back, cant remember the name, and its just a shooting galery. If i wanted a blastathon, then i`ll load up SeriousSam and have more fun playing it.
My decision is down to FarCry and SC: PT.
If FarCryDVD is in stock, then i`ll buy that, if not, then SC: PT it is!

All of those games are rehashes. Treat yourself to any of the $10-20 bargain bin classics that you haven't played.

Starcraft
Deus Ex
Baldur's Gate 1, 2
Homeworld 1, 2
Arcanum
Jedi Knight Outcast, Academy (not quite bargain bin yet)
Max Payne 1, 2 (also not quite in the bargain bin)
Hitman 2

If you've played all those, though, go for Star Wars: KotOR or Hitman: Contracts.

Go for Far Cry. It's a win win situation. Some of the best bucks I've ever spend on a game
You might want to take a look at Battlefield Vietnam too. I've finished Far Cry 2 times, so it's my next option.

Playability? Long lasting? Good single player?

If you are trying to get the most for your money, heres the order:
ut2k4 > far cry > scpt

Best single player:
far cry > scpt > ut2k4

Since you already made fun of worms3d and painkiller, I am guessing that you are attracted to pretty colors, in which case far cry has the most pretty colors.

If you get UT2k4, get it from Play.com, it's only £18 shipped (CD edition)
Haven't tried Far Cry, but I have UT2k4 and it's great fun. I don't even have BB yet, so I can't play it online (I can on Jolt servers with ~200ms pings, but my dialup connection keeps getting dropped), but it's fun against bots anyway.
I got UT2k3 and didn't much like it, but UT2k4 is much more fun.

So attracted to them, that i picked up SC: PT which is 90% pitch black!. :)

Anyway.
SC: PT seems like a good game. Im on the 4th mission upto now. And the train level....whoa! very cool!.
The bad;
for some reason, when the vision modes are on, it make 1280x1024 look like 640x480!?
the vision modes are now xbox style, slightly blured all over, more than 5m away from Sam its very blured.
The controls have changed slightly, before, in SC1, i could press couch when hanging from a beam to crawl along it with hands+legs, now it makes me drop! And i can`t seem to make sam do a silent landing. Before, i just held crouch as i landed, but it doesnt seem to be doing it now.
Lambert & Grimsdotter`s voice has changed.

The good.
The keypads can finally be done with the numpad on the keyboard!
Looks slightly better. Good water effects.
More gadgets! cool.
Loads more moves to do!

Painkiller is a pretty good time if you are a serious sam fan.

Lots of blood, guts, good laughs at how the skeletons shotgun themselves in the head. Good times, no doubt.

FarCry

In Europe they only sell the DVD edition so this would be the first game only available on DVD (or atleast what I'm aware of)

Where did you get this info from?
I live in the UK, which is part of europe, and ive seen the CD & DVD version on sale.

Guys/gals, unless you want to continue this thread for the benefit of others, which would be a good idea, then theres no point in advising me further, as ive said, i went for SC: PT.
