Ok, I recently decided to play Twilight Princess on the Wii, and I am almost completely done. Anyway, once done I would like to pick up Skyward Sword and give it a play through since I have never played it.

I dont care about "toony" graphics or whatever as I am more about the gameplay and length.

Anyway, for anyone here that has played both, which was more enjoyable to you and why?

I still have Skyward Sword, new and shrink wrapped on my shelf. I have no excuses really, just wanted to wait to dive in when I new I could devote a lot of time to it (I hate starting big, epic games and having to take weeks off at a time for life) But I'll get around to it soon...

As for Twilight Princess. I know it's often praised as one of the greatest games of the generation, and of the entire Zelda franchise. But honestly, I felt it was a touch overrated. I simply did not enjoy the "wolf" segments much at all, and found the otherworld less than compelling. That said, it is a great game and the traditional Zelda overworld gameplay is spectacular, but I just can't agree with the folks who call it the best Zelda game ever or best of the generation.
It was great, but those Wolf segments hold it back IMO.

No contest at all, Twilight Princess was a lot better. Skyward Sword was a big let down, although I still finished it.

The biggest problem is that the flying felt gimmicky and was simply there for the controller. It felt way out of place in a Zelda game. Trying to remember back, but although the controls felt more accurate than Twilight Princess, part of the game was frustrating due to them. Just overall Twilight Princess had a better feel to it and Skyward Sword just felt way out of place for a Zelda game. Pretty sure I rated it like a 6/10 back in the day.

I played 75% of Skyward Sword. It started out much better than Twilight. However Twilight kept me entertained enough to finish.

Twilight is also my favorite 3d Zelda game. Windwaker close Second. Did not care for the sailing mechanic. Wii U remake is gorgeous.

Wish they would release another top down heritage Zelda. A Link between Worlds was the best Zelda in a long time.

I guess just to be safe, i'll start the game with a meh attitude. That way I won't be really disappointed if I don't like it.

Of course, My #1 favorite Zelda game, is A Link To The Past, and my 2nd favorite is.....The Wind Waker. I'd venture a guess, and say that Twilight is the 3rd.

I hated Skyward Sword because you had to slash a specific direction sometimes but the controller would often incorrectly read your movement and you'd get stunned and clobbered. Like if you had to slash horizontal it might think you're going diagonal and the enemy blocks and you get knocked back and are open for attack.

I never finished either of them. For whatever reason, I just never got into them (I loved windwaker though).

I liked Skyward Sword's story better than Twilight Princess. They definitely put more effort into giving the characters more personality in Skyward Sword and the story was a bit more interesting than the standard Zelda fare of collecting a bunch of power up items found at the end of dungeons.

The motion control swordplay in Skyward Sword was awful, though. If you are a perfectionist, you will be frustrated beyond all hell with the finnicky motion controls and watching Link awkwardly run around around with his sword wobbling in the air like a crazy person.

I thought Twilight Princess was incredible. It gets really close to the immerision and game world fullfillment that Ocarina of Time delivered.

Top 3 Would Be
Ocarina of Time
A Link to the Past
Twilight Princess

All separated by a hair. I'd have strong cases for each of those being #1.

Skyword Sword was not in the same league for me.

I think there's a lot of overlap on what people like, but the Zelda series is sorta split into 2 audiences.

The series has some good "core gamer" targeted ARPGs, like the OG NES Zelda, A Link to the Past, and Twilight Princess.... but it also has some stuff clearly made for... younger casual players, such as Wind Waker, Minish Cap, Spirit Tracks, and so on. There's a lot of overlap between the groups, where you might have a Wind Waker fan who loves Ocarina of Time, or someone who likes both Minish Cap and Majora's Mask... but I still think it's rare that someone loves every Zelda game.

It's my opinion that Skyward Sword didn't go over well with the "core gamer" Zelda fans. It's reception was a bit better with the "casual" fans. And, given that this is a forum that would tend to attract more "core gamer" types, it doesn't surprise me that Twilight Princess is wining 8 to 1 in the poll.

I personally hate the game. With how many times NPCs reminded Link that he had been friends with Zelda since childhood, its like Link must have suffered some kind of horrible brain injury where he might suddenly forget who Zelda is and be like "WHERE AM I WHO ARE YOU VILE WOMAN ON BIRD THING OMG HELP AAAAAAAH!" and maybe attack her, if they don't constantly remind him about who people and things are in relation to himself. "This is your friend Zelda, Link, you've been friends with her for a very long time, everything is OK".

Anyway, that was a weird tangent. Uh.... Game forces motion controls down your throat. No other control options. Therefore it sucks. Other reasons why it sucks, but that's enough.

I vote Twilight Princess because it got a Gamecube release which means you can play it without all the motion stuff.

Honestly i have no idea about this two games, but it seems like a good game and interesting one. I'll search for this more and try to figure out which one is better xD

I liked the story in Skyward Sword and would beg for a non motion control version, YOU HEAR ME NINTENDO! I liked Twilight Princess.

If you played Twilight Princess on the Wii with motion controls and really liked it then you will like Skyward Sword.

If you dislike most motion control stuff you are going to dislike trying to play Skyward Sword.

Second, there needs to be an option to vote for "Destroy 99% of motion control games" option.

Twilight Princess hands down.

Skyward Sword was the first Zelda I gave up on without finishing. Motion control was not up to Nintendo's usual snuff, and for some reason I just found the story less gripping. Should have been in HD, too.
