GOLDEN EYE... remember that scam where some people said that there were some secret settings and if you could beat every level at these impossible settings you would unlock the presidents as usable multiplayer characters...

My friends and I... we um... we did in fact beat Golden Eye under those settings... you had to do everything perfect - NEVER miss a shot and always get headshots. Well when you get 90% through a level perfectly only to have "smoke" kill you (if you touched the smoke from fire you would insta-die) it could in fact anger you and you may or may not throw the controller.

NFSMW + Blacklist #2 pursuit chase + roadblock with a spikestrip = almost broken desk. Luckily I finished the game with no broken peripherals. :p

n (there's a link here) drives me absolutely insane sometimes. It's so close to being the perfect platformer but has these little quirks that sometimes make me wish I could physically smash software.

Other than that, I can't think of many games. Most of the time it's my input device (like trying to use joysticks for an FPS). In particular, my frustration with n compounds greatly when a keyboard key sticks for a fraction of a second. Furious indignation is the phrase for it. I don't think I've ever felt so cheated by a game/controller and yet I keep going back to it...

:) my meltdown with that game occurred when I couldn't shoot par or better on Highland Links...

about 30 straight attempts! :|

:)

ROFL ... I had the same problem. I haven't played in a while, but do have 2006 to try out. Not yet installed. I played Highland Links probably almost 20 times before completing it. :)

:) nice... i would get especially mad when i made it to one of the last holes and had a triple bogey or something. i'd usually put it up on the green after, whip out the driver and spank that bitch to kingdom come ;)

Neocron / Neocron 2 & Lineage 2 have both caused me to come very close.

I know a friend of mine punched through his bedroom wall due to the former.

Popeye at the local arcade, stupid impossible game, I got to level 3 (best I did ever I think) and kicked the shat out of the coin return part.

Zaxxon on my C64, nothing like thinking you're cool to fly between the opining in the wall and the killer electricity only to get zapped, or smash into the brick wall.

My Hero on the SMS, did ANYONE beat this game? I'd love to know how the hell! Between those stupid bouncing exploding ball thingies, and the fact if ANYTHING touched you, you died instantly.

the cake would have to be fighting Mike Tyson in Tyson's Punchout on the NES. I was 13 when it came out, and it made me cuss like a sailor. hardest shat ever there.

Shinobi at the arcade. I punched that fvcking games so hard at one level, it called the managers attention. :|

Ghosts and Goblins on the NES. God damn that is ridiculous! A controller and a TV almost paid the ultimate price.

Capcom vs SNK 2:EO on the XBox. That game cost me 4 controllers playing it Live, and it almost cost me an XBox and a TV as I came REAL close to throwing my XBox THROUGH the TV. :|

Medal of Honor on the PC. The sniper alley level almost destoyed my keyboard AND mouse and could have done extensive damage to my desk. :| But luckily I showed some restraint. ;)

I did. You basically have to memorize every movement and jump you need to make once it gets into the harder levels. IIRC, the game just keeps looping around. Although, it's been a good ... gosh... 15 years since I've played it :)

Well, I officially broke an XBox controller last night. I was whupping the sh1t out of some EA-dreamed-up shiznatch, and she landed 3 Eagles in a row on the last three holes to tie up the game. All were approach shots with wedges.

So with the game tied, we play another hole. I two-putt for a birdie and she sinks a 35 yard putt for a 4th straight Eagle.

As this was my Xth attempt at beating this whore, a fiery rage ensued where I threw the controller down on the coffee table. Realizing that it had not broken, I concluded that it had not suffered enough. I proceeded to take it down to the basement, away from the view of my children, and I commenced ravaging it with a hammer.

It's dead.

Tonight the DVD shall meet the same fate. Can't wait.

The worst I've ever seen was when I was a Resident Advisor in college.. one night i was playing cs and I heard a loud crash. I went outside my room and a student THREW his damn monitor through his open window and down 3 stories onto the parking lot. He was cussing so much cause he died... "due to lag" of course.

Persoanlly, Ive gotten bloody knucks from punching my monitor..

Unbeatable with Game Genie, although... I was 10 years old. It sounds like it's time to dust off the ol' NES!

Speedball 2 did for 2 joysticks on the Amiga. My brother killed the Esc key getting stressed with a 3D game called Virus.

there were a few games i think that made me want to break my snes controller, i dont really remember which ones or why, i just remember trying to bend it in half. that must've been a tough controller, but i think i was only like 12, so i couldn't have been that strong.
