i meant half-life and its expansions. half-life 2 is, IMO, another expansion, but set with a hole new engine and etc. otherwise, it adds on to the storyline, and i think that would be a series itself, but thats just me. :)

How bout neither? I'm tempted to expand my boycott to those games as well since people won't shut up about them.

You do whatever you wanna do... I'm curious though, since you referenced 'expanding' your boycott to include these games, what other things are you currently boycotting aside from EA?

Now that I have your permission I will, thanks. :D

And... ummm... nothing... that's why I said expanding my boycott to include those games. Meaning... not only will I boycott EA and refuse to buy any games made by them, I'll also refuse to buy Doom 3 or Half Life 2.

Was I really that unclear the first time?

Not necessarily unlcear, I was just curious if you were boycotting some other stuff as well. My reasoning was that if you were going to boycott something like video games because people were excited about them and couldn't stop talking about them, you might be boycotting some other stuff for some pretty interesting reasons. If not, oh well... I realize it's a bit OT, but my interest was piqued.

Stalker looks a whole lot like Painkiller right now. Except it's atmosphere doesnt deviate like a carnival fun house like Painkillers did. And Im hoping the gameplay well be a crap load better then Painkillers.

There's pleanty of other things I refuse to buy, use, say, eat, etc. for "interesting reasons..." but nothing I'd really call a boycott.

Definitely Half-Life 2. I've played both HL2 and D3, and I liked the feel of HL2 a lot more. Doom 3 looks and feels a little too much like Resident Evil the way it's slow paced and even minor enemies do insane damage (imp in D3 is harder than a cyberdemon in D1 and D2).
I've also heard a few bad rumors about Doom 3's multiplayer. Is it true that Doom 3 will only support 4 player multiplayer?

Doom 3 screenshots

What hardware was that running on? Frame rates look horrible.
The 1024x768 shots are at highest quality. The 400x300 shots are lowest quality.

Athlon XP 3200+
Asus A7N8X-X (nForce 2, single channel memory)
1GB PC 3200 RAM
Radeon 9600XT (Cat 4.6)

The low frame rates might be related to lack of memory. When Doom 3 is running, Task Manager says 1.5GB of pagefile (RAM + swap) is being used.

The game i r most looking forware to is..... Warhammer 40K: Dawn of War!

Of the ones on poll, Half Life 2 because when I get over how cool Doom 3's graphics are, and get used to having the crap scared out of me which seems to be D3's main attraction, I think Half Life 2's gameplay will be interesting for longer.

Also looking forward to STALKER lots too. Looks like a FPS Morrowind with loverly graphics.

Haha. To me it isn't just the graphics of Stalker that are appealing, it is the story, and the fact that they tried really hard to make the environment just like chernobyl.

Who cares? There will be Quake 4 for MP.

Half-Life 2, but I'll already be getting tired of playing Doom 3 by the time HL2 comes out. :)

Doom 3 definitely by a very very large margin. The graphics in HL2 already look dated. IMO, non-unified lighting engines are teh sux0rz. ;)

Why are you looking at the graphics? Do graphics even matter? Far Cry looks a lot better than Quake 1, but in terms of fun and playability, Quake 1 crushes Far Cry. Then there's Splinter Cell which looks good but sucks balls.
When companies focus on graphics, they forget to add fun.

No joke. What is he smoking?

STALKER looks like BF1942? It's an RPG....set in the future....in Russia....with mutants.....

Do I really need to keep explaining this?

I voted for Half Life 2 but I will be getting Doom 3 I suppose. Battle for Middle Earth later in the year too.

Not to mention STALKER has some actual physics, actual foliage, actual single-player, actual lighting/shadows, actual graphical detail, actual weather, actual dynamic time, I could go on...
