Which Fortron

ok I am finalizing my list of things to get for my upgrade. PSU has been an ongoing struggle. After doing research (what a novel idea) I thinks I will be getting a Fortron. But which one?

My rig will be an AMD64 3000+, K8N Neo 2, 1 gig Kingson Hyper X PC3200 ram, Seagate 80 gig 7200 SATA drive, CD-RW, Dual format DVDR/RW, XFX6800GT, the cpu and GPU water cooled. I think that is everything... oh havent figured out sound yet.... anyway these are the PSU's I am debating on.

which one?

My choice w/b the first one you linked (530 watt). Several months ago, I was posting around and the guy I feel who knows the most about these was recommending the 530 watt.

The 2nd one looks newer, it has dual +12V rails, each one with a capacity for 15A. The first one has on ly 18A. Newegg listed the ratings wrongly, and that's kinda suspect. I'd go with the 2nd one.

for teh same price as the first one linked the 530, you could get a Antec True Power 430w PS and it has very similar specs to the 530, has a better 12v @ 20A 5V is 36A not 40A but thats more then enough anyway

I've got the Fortron 530w and that thing rocks. I've got like 3 hard drives, 1 CD Burner, a Radeon 9700 Pro, and like 11 fans hooked up to my system and have not had any problems.

i also have the fortron 530, it friggin rocks. not too loud, constructed really well, heavy (thats good 😛 ), looks good, and alot of people say the 18a is understated--ive seen some people who have gotten 28amps@12v rail.

Lol, this is like the fps 530 roll call, everybody coming out.

I just wish more manufacturers design their fans like the fps530: 2 in same air direction for nice shotgun effect.

Taking the low amps output on the 12v line, would it be wiser to purchase the Fortron Blue Storm 500W ATX12V V2.0 psu and sacrifice the 30 watts?

What have you all to say about this psu?

The 530watt model has 28amps on the 12v rail.

The Blue Storm looks to have a total of 30amps (2 x 15amps).

I think either w/b very good.
