Which Final Fantasy should I get from the PSN?

So the PSN has FFVII, FFVIII, and FFIX for sale. I've beaten FFVII in the past and it's classic. I plan on buying it at some point (when i get some disposable income). But I want to buy one of them now. Which is better? Story, Control, Battle System, Weapon -wise? FFVIII or FFIX? Thanks everyone!

Between VIII and IX it isn't remotely close, IX all the way. VII versus IX you could make a decent debate about, most FF fans agree that VIII is the hands down poorest title in the entire series(there are a few exceptions, but not many).

do you think they're going to release FFX to the PSN...cause that was my 2nd favorite after FFVII?

How do the PSN FF games look on a HD TV?

Does it keep the same lower resolution of the original game and stretch it?

Or is it kept in the same 1:1 ratio?

That's a PS2 game, and current PS3 models do not have the EE chip needed for their generic PS2 emulation.

So far the only PS2 games that have been made compatible with current PS3s are the God of War HD remakes. Sony owns those so they could do it, they'd need to reach an agreement with Squenix (and get source code) for FFX or XII

so 8 and 9 are free roam at some point right? not just linear like 13 was...i hated that

once you get the airship in 9 its pretty free roam. IDK about 8 i cant remember and hated that game

id rather them put 6 on there as its still the best FF thats been made to date

Hmmm ... well, FF9 is one of those games I don't remember much about because the ending was so pointless and crappy that it managed to ruin the entire game for me. I think I liked it up until the ending, but all I can remember is what ranks as possibly the worst ending fight of all time.

FF8 is one of those heavily underrated games that gets flak for a somewhat annoying "draw" system of magic. But it's story and magic linking system are fantastic. Most people I know consider it one of the better final fantasies.

You already beat FF7, but it's the best of them so it's always worth more.

Luckily FF6 isn't and option as people will tell you how awesome it is but it's tedious and boring and there's too many characters that you have to level up individually. And really the characters were boring and the story mostly sucked.

ff8 is ok, but the story is weird. ff9 was one of the best I've played. I prefer 9 over 7 too

Just got 7 and am playing through it, because I've never done it heh.

ohh you make a good test subject. as you have never played it. Provided you have played other FF games im curious to your opinion of the game after you are done compared to the other you played

I believe most PS1 games can be played on a PS3. If so, grab Final Fantasy Chronicles and Final Fantasy Anthology.

I have always enjoyed FF2 (4 in Japan) from the SNES which has an awesome storyline. FF3 (6 in Japan) from the SNES is my favorite and is fun.

Also remember that none of the Final Fantasies are quite as awesome as Chrono Trigger.

FF9 is my favorite FF. Mostly because of the setting. Everything about it just felt so right.

Sadly though, FF7 gets more attention. While FF7 is good, FF9 is just so much better.

Everything after FF9 has been trash IMO. Voice acting killed FF10 for me. FF11... lame mmo. FF12... boring.

Chrono Trigger is in the pack of Final Fantasy Chronicles with Final Fantasy 4. As great as Chrono Trigger is, it is not better than Final Fantasy 6 and Final Fantasy 4 is right on par with it.

Um, no. 9 is the poorest title. 8 was great. 7 was the best. 6 was good. 10 was a little too fruity but was still fun. 12 was horribad. 13 was for girls. Maybe 14 will bring down WoW (unlikely). By the time 15 gets here the game will play itself and simply be a 25 hour long movie.
