Which fan is better w/ a fan controller..

This really depends on your system....
If your computer runs pretty cool already, get the lows and make your computer as quiet as you can.

If you overclock or run high temps get the highs.

BTW- The H1A(B) runs pretty quiet @ 5-7V.

If the fan is insane, depending on the fan speed controller, even on lowest it might be pretty loud.

example: my thermaltake SCFIIs on a vantec controller are still loud on minimum (or were, before I 7V modded them)

better to get a faster fan and slow it down with a fan controller. Just incase things are getting hot, you turn it up.

the deltas and tornados are way too much for a fan controller. I had my delta on my sunbeam controller and it was still pretty loud on the lowest setting that it could take.

Since you are going to run a fan controller the H series would be your best choice.

Panasonic Panaflo's are great fans compared to just about anything on the market.

Papst...Sanyo Denki...Panflo's...Great fans...For 80m/m fans Panaflo's are my weapon of choice.

I have a 92mm Panaflo M1 with a Zalman fan controller.
If you run the fan at about 75%-85% of max, most of the noise is removed.

High Speed. They've got a good noise/air volume ratio. IF you can, a 120mm is a better choice than an 80mm, as long as it will fit.

It's silly putting a puny, already quiet fan like the L1A on a controller. And I think Panasonic fans don't take well to PWM fan controllers - need to get a rheostat or linear.

Yeah, I agree with Zepper. I have several 80mm L1A Panaflos in my system and they were horrible with my cheap PWM controller. I ended up running all three of them off my northbridge fan header, retiring the PWM as just "eye-candy".

Speaking of fan controllers: SVC.com is selling the CoolerMaster Aerogate 1 for $5.99 - I don't know for how long...

Does anyone notice Thermaltake fans, the orange one, makes ticking noise. Sure you can lower the rpm but then you hear the ticking. Is this still happening or has this been fixed?
