I decided (like many others) to step up my 7800GT CO to a 7900GT. I have two questions:
1) Which 7900GT should I buy? I don't think I can buy the base model, since my 7800GT cost me $299.99, the same price as the 7900GT base. Since eVGA requires a more expensive card, that leaves me with the 7900GT OC and 7900GT Superclock. The difference is 50mhz+ core speed and 80mhz+ memory speed, at what looks to be $20 more for the Superclock. Both OC'd cards seem to have the same (upgraded) cooler so maybe the OC can easily hit superclock speeds? Or maybe it will be like my model 516 7800GT that came clocked as a 517. What do you think?
2) Is there any official MSRP listing? If eVGA decided to up the list price on these, I'm not required to go through with the step-up am I? In other words, if I apply now, and then the 7900GT OC is listed at $400, can I cancel the order?
Thanks for the advice
EDIT: I know there are many step-up threads, but most seem to just express their happiness in the program, I didn't see one that specifically asks my two questions.
