Since your GPU 99.9% probably has DVI-I connection, this connection accepts DVI-D. I think the cables for LCDs are all DVI-D to DVI-D

Someone correct me if im wrong...

Edit: Ive never seen a DVI-I cable since this cable would theoretically be both analog and digital - what would need this?

DVI-I outputs accept a DVI-D cable alright. That's the plan - you either plug that or a DVI-A adapter or cable, in case you're connecting to an analog device.

Single Link. Only workstation cards that tend to be extremely expensive have dual-link DVI outputs, as far as I know.

Most DVI cables are DVI-I male to DVI-I male. The monitor should come with a cable that'll work with just about every DVI equiped graphics card. With DVI gear, if a feature isn't supported, those pins on the cable are usually still there, but they're just ignored by the hardware.

The only dual-link card I know of is the GeForce 6800 Ultra DDL (dual display link). It's used for this 30" 2560 x 1600 monster:

All consumerish cards are single-link. That's enough for 1600x1200, even 1920x1200 via so-called "reduced blanking period" timing.

HOWEVER, as a number of articles has demonstrated, the DVI transmitter integrated into the NVidia range of graphics chips has a signal quality issue that limits it further down. Thus, unless your particular card uses a discrete transmitter chip, your mileage may vary. You might be able to do those 1680x1050 at reduced frame rate, or maybe not at all.
