Which Dual Channel Kit should I get? 1GB HyperX PC3700 or 1GB OCZ Performance PC3500?

Both are right around my budget. Which will give me the best OC for an Barton XP2500-M? Right now I'm leaning towards the OCZ Performance.

UPDATE: I think I found the RAM I want, OCZ PC3200 1GB KIT EL that suppose to run 2-2-3-6. ONly $231 ($2 more than hyper-x). Yay or nay?

Any ideas?

BTW Geil Ultra PC3500 is only $203 for 1GB, is this stuff any good?

Both are extremely good, unlike Geil. Although, if you have an Epox nForce2 board, or any non-nForce2 board, the Geil will work fine.

How fast should the OCZ performance PC3500 go with relaxed timings, 230MHZ (hopefully)?

i would say geil is atleast as good as ocz if not better

get something with winbond (tight timings) or the new hynix (high clock speed) chips if you can

So Geil is good? What are the chances of it not running its rated timings?:)

i can't say for sure
but the last time i bought ocz pc3200 it wouldn't run at it's rated speed

usually a small voltage boost will ensure that
geil rates their memory voltage higher than most
so you don't void warranty if you up it a bit to ensure stability

ocz is better than they used to be but i think geil is better imo
geil makes their own chips on many of their modules if i'm not mistaken
so they can handle the quality controll throughout the entire design and production of their memory

Are we talking about Geil Ultra Platinum PC3500 here? I have 512 of that stuff and it runs without errors at 2-6-3-3 at 2.8V at 216mhz (433 or its rated speed) but WILL NOT GO ABOVE 219 regardless of timings. However, if your motherboard supports up to 3.1V or higher I would get the Geil ram if you are looking to exceed the 216FSB because at 3.0V these hit like 230FSB+. If you cannot go above 2.9V I would look at OCZ or another manufacturer like Mushkin Level 1 PC3500.
