Which drivers should I update?

I just put in a new MB, and had to reinstall Vista 64. I've held back on installing all the latest drivers for all my hardware because of the warnings like that on Asus' site for the MB about "its dangerous to update if you don"t need it".
So far I have only teh original drivers installed for my MB, but noticed a LOT of newer drivers on their site, for the chipset, LAN, BIOS, etc. Also, ATI has a new package out. And how about my CPU?

I was going to install the ATi package, but am very uncertain of which ones from the Asus site to install. Also, the descriptions under "chipset" are very confusing, which one do I use? Which ones generaly should I do? Here's the site:
http://support.asus.com/downlo...d.aspx?SLanguage=en-us

Thanks for your help!

It's dangerous to update your BIOS if you don't need it...well, it can be dangerous if you can't follow directions, and/or do not have a UPS. It's certainly not dangerous to update drivers.

Install chipset version 9.0.0.109. Just go with the latest version numbers for audio and LAN. Since you have a discrete video card, don't bother with the VGA drivers. I don't think there are any new drivers for your CPU...

Awesome! Thanks.
Should I uninstall those drivers first through Device Manager, before installing the new ones, or are those new drivers able to do it all in one step?

There can be allot of probems with installing over the old. Often some of the old drivers still linger and interfear with the system. Had this problem mainly with video drivers.

How do I uninstall drivers? For exampl, there is no "chipset" tab in device manager. There are a whole bunch of Intel ones under System Devices. Do I uninstall all of those?
This is confusing.

The chipset drivers installs most of the things you see listed under "System devices"...do not panic.

Do NOT uninstall current drivers. There will be no "lingering drivers" left over to interfere with the system...current drivers will simply be overwritten with the newer drivers. Yes, this includes your video drivers...the issue mpilchfamily refers to is when you switch from AMD to nVidia or vice-versa. This is NOT your scenario.
