which drive for external firewire case - NEC 3500a or Pioneer 108?

I found a 5.25" Firewire case I like and I'm trying to decide on a DVD burner to put in it. It's either the NEC 3500a or a Pioneer 108. Opinions?
 
use the pioneer

trust me, the nec is a great drive, for internal, but darn if i could not get it to work in external case...many have the same problem
