Which Disney World them park to go to in Orlando?

I'm traveling alone for business next week and will be staying an extra day to check out a theme park in Orlando. Which is the best theme park to go to for someone who'll be attending alone?

Disney is... overrated. Wet N' Wild or Fun Spot. 🙂

The Food & Wine Festival is going on at EPCOT right now. If you want to go to a park purely to enjoy the rides, stay away from EPCOT because it will be packed. However, if you want to roam around, drink various beers and/or wine, chow at some of the food kiosks (they have small plates of food from a bunch of different countries with each country represented by one kiosk), and people watch, go to EPCOT.

None of them if you're by yourself. Maybe hit Pleasure Island at night. Other than that, I'd also go with Wet N Wild, that place is fantastic!

Or if you'll have a car, you could go out to Kennedy Space Center like we did. That place is all kinds of awesome.

I don't recall the parts, but in the more Sciencey one they had an interesting exhibit on Agriculture and there was a pretty nifty Safari ride. Indiana Jones and the car movie special effects show were entertaining. There's so much to see/do that you'd probably be entertained no matter where you went. Unless you're like Nancy Kerrigan and find certain things too corny to enjoy, like the parade.

Universal, Epcott are my favorites. MGM is supposed to have some newer cool stuff. It's been more than ten years, though, since I spent any time in Orlando...

I think Epcott sounds more interesting to me than going on adventure rides for this trip since I'll be alone. Now I'm debating whether to go on a Friday or Saturday.. Anyone know if the lines are bearable for a Saturday trip at Epcott?

Epcot is great for adults. Walk around the countries and have a drink at each.

Also, the fall is much slower than other times of the year. I don't know specifically about Saturdays right now, but the lines will be plenty bearable compared to any other time of the year.

Pleasure Island isn't what it was. They shut down all the bars/clubs and have made it more shopping and family oriented.

I don't know, but suspect that this is Off Season so it shouldn't be too bad.

The Food & Wine Festival is OK, be prepared to spend mega bucks though. $10+/beer... food is ridiculous.
Don't recall ever seeing a $10 beer at the Food & Wine Festival. Granted, the prices are inflated for alcohol but the max you're likely to pay for a beer would be $7.50, unless they've raised prices significantly this year or you want some Belgian Trappist concoction. Most of the food plates served at the country kiosks range from $5 to $8. They are appetizer-size portions and that's equivalent with what you'd pay for an app at a restaurant.

btw, even though it's off-season for the parks right now the Food & Wine Festival is a big draw. EPCOT won't be too bad when the park opens in the morning but by 3pm it'll be packed. If you want to avoid the lines somewhat be sure to get a fastpass for any ride you want to go on (Don't miss Soarin' and Mission: Space).

It's unfortunate. The problem was that PI began to become the favorite hangout for a lot of the local riff-raff, scum, and various gangs. There were fights and other crime-related issues that were becoming more and more frequent. Rather than try to heavily police the problem Disney simply decided to do away with it.

That explains it then. I was just there a few months ago and noticed a lot of empty buildings in the area but never asked any locals what happened. Did enjoy Ragland Road (I think that was the name... Irish Pub) a couple of nights though.

The weekends are actually the slowest days of the week. Most people are traveling to or from on the weekends so they are not in the parks.

Although the Beer and Wine fest may change that since it would bring out the locals who have passes etc.

Which park to visit depends on what you like
If you like rides then Islands of Adventure for its roller coasters and other rides.

As for Disney, by yourself I would say Epcot. Magic Kingdom is aimed at kids, Animal Kingdom is only good for half a day and not worth it unless you have a park hopper pass and Studios is ok, but nothing to special.

I can't stand disney really. Epcot as other said is somewhat ok with the whole country touring thing. If you are into animals and don't have a good zoo where you live check out Animal Kingdom. Otherwise I would just go to Seaworld, you get a good mix of stuff there.

Overall, Magic Kingdom is my favorite park. But that's mainly because there are so many family friendly attractions.
If I was going to spend a day at an Orlando park by myself, I would probably pick one of these:
Epcot
Disney Hollywood Studios
Sea World

Epcot is a cool place to eat, drink, and just walk around and hang out. Plus, it has Soarin and Mission:Space, which are both a lot of fun.
Disney Hollywood Studios has two awesome rides (Rock n Roller Coaster, Tower of Terror) and some of the best shows (Indiana Jones, Lights, Motors, Action, and Fantasmic)
Sea World is a more relaxed park, with a fantastic coaster (Kraken) and all the whale and dolphin shows.

Normally, crowd levels at each park are higher on days that have EMH (Extra magic hours perk for people staying at a Disney resort). The EMH schedule plays a much bigger role than what day of the week it is. But the Food and Wine festival draws a lot of locals, so weekends at Epcot during that time will definitely be crowded.

It really just depends on what you are most interested in. Check out the Disneyworld website to look at which shows are offered which night at each park.

You can save the time and hassle of a plane flight if you just tossed your wallet down the nearest storm drain and rewatched snow white on VHS.
