Just curious because I would like to meet some directors myself more than the actors. One American director would be Robert redford. I know it sounds funny but I heard him talk one time with that Rose guy and I was impressed by his thinking. He has more to him than I originally thought.

Spielberg of course!

Probably same here.

And George Lucas too so I could shake is hand for the original trilogy and then kick his ass for Eps 1 & 2.

For me, Michael Mann.

I love his directing style. Nothing groundbreaking, but just the way he moves his movies...I love it.

Hayao Miyazaki
I have enjoyed all his stuff. It is so refreshing and my kids have esp enjoyed the films too. They feel that the stories do not insult their intelligence and at the same time are entertaining and they continue to think about them long after watching them. like a good book.

Soderbergh > Spielberg

But Soderbergh didn't direct Saving Private Ryan or Band Of Brothers.

Spielberg obviously has some really good movies, but the good movie/bad movie ratio is higher with Soderbergh.

I too would want to meet Miyazaki for he kicks some serious ass. But as a student in film school I would rather meet the Coen Brothers. Their ability to write and direct is fantasic, they crate films that are very good in story, but you watch them and never notice editing and chopyness. Everything is seamless. It is fantastic. I love the way the put everything together. It great. Oh well.
