Which Digital Camera ??

I'm shopping for a digital camera for my in-laws for Christmas, nothing high tech and fancy, just a point-and-shoot, standard resolution, VERY easy to operate. I'm considering the Sony Mavica due to floppies as the medium, which is basically 'idiot-proof'.

However, it would be nice if they could view the pictures on a TV rather than having to use the computer everytime. Is there a camera (and is the Mavica one as well) that can connect to the 'video-in' jack rather than USB and/or FireWire?

Having floopies as the medium is a bad idea. Think about it, you will only be able to fit a small amount of picture on it.

Even though it is idiot-proof, it isn't worth it.

Look at an Olympus 340-R, or the new one which is the 4??-R model. They have the "point and click" that you like. They also have an LCD viewfinder and a video out w/ an RCA adapter that allows you to plug into a vcr or or TV.

It will be in the $250-$325 range. I was lucky and got my 340-R on clearance for $150.

Here's some examples of the pictures that it takes:vacation pics

Thanks vi_edit.

Those Olympus cameras look good. Price is good too! Just might pick one up for myself.

BTW... I've always wanted to go to the Badlands.

Anyone else?

Take a look at the Nikon CoolPIX (comes now in 800, 900, and newer).

They come with few cables including Video connection to TV. The Old 800 has it too. The 800 can be found for about $400, but it is serial port (pain in the neck for PC transfer). The new CoolPix 880 is great, but pirce is above $700, however it can do Video and it is USB.

I am using an Olympus D360-L (replaced D340-R), so far I am pretty happy with it also.
