Which digital camera to buy?

Go with the Canon SD100. I bought it a few months ago and absolutely love it. If you need to see any sample pics just let me know. One thing I did find out was that it is listed as allowing 128mb SD only, but I am running fine with 256mb.

The Canon model is 2x optical zoom, while the Olympus is 3x optical zoom, this may be a factor or not,I like Canon and Olympus cameras quite a lot so for me it would depend on specs etc between the two.

I would go with Canon if smaller size is more important or the Olympus model if that 3x optical zoom is more important.

I like the small size of these two cameras, but I haven't seen the A70 yet.

I'll have to see the A70 in person to decide on the size of it.

The A70 is bigger, but will still fit in your pocket without too much discomfort. I love mine. Before I was planning to get an S200 or SD100, but the cheaper CF memory, the use of AA batteries (I already have a good set of NiMHs), better image quality, and the A70s ability to take threaded lens filters just sold me. 🙂

How many pics can you take with the AA batteries on an A70 with the lcd screen on?

I believe the SD100 is rated around 200 pics or so.

According to Dpreview, you can get 515 shots with a good set of NiMH AA batteries. That's with the LCD on, and 1/5 of the shots using the flash.

Damn, thats a lot of pics. The A70 is looking better and better. I just have to go see how large it is compared to a SD100.

we own the s400 and simply love the product and the design. so very happy with it. i have read some ugly things about the sd memory, almost nothing negative on the s400 other than price.
