Which digital camera to buy?

I don't know which digital camera I want to get for my bday. I just need it for personal use and to show my pics online. quality is a must which I know all 3 cameras have.
 
What are you going to use it for? I have a Canon A70 and love it so far. The more you spend, the more features and options you have to play with.
 
Really depends what functionalities/preference you have over your camera - G3 is not supposed to be that list - unless u're just looking at the number of pixels...
 
umm... 3 totally diffrent usages for each camera

depending on what you do... personally i would get the S400 cause i like something to keep in my pocket and just point and shoot....

im sure the A70 and G3 has a zillion more features... but i like a compact camera.
 
if you're not going to print anything, the a70 is fine. if you dont want any customizable settings, and want a point and shoot, the a70 is fine.

if you want more options, go with the s400, but its small makes it cost more than it should.

if you want something that you can do things with, the g5 is the way to go. g3 is a bit old, but still yields good results.

I don't think that's accurate.

The A70 has more features than an S400. The A70 has full manual controls. The S400 does not.

But the A70 is sort of the poor man's G3. (aka me)

The G3 is a bit old, but it's still an EXCELLENT camera. If you can afford the G3, get that. It's the best camera of the bunch (Not including the G5 of course).
 
personal use = s400 or a70 depending on your price range... ones super compact, the other is VERY featured for low price. dont fall for the "its more money it must be better"
 
My Canon G3 is awesome, I totally love it. But it was expensive, and its bulky... but man does it shoot great pics!

How much wa sit at Fry's? About 1400$?

That's what it runs.. but damn, it's such a sweet camera.

 
If picture quality is your top priority then get Canon G3.
Don't even bother with G5, it has higher noise and only 1MP difference.
G3 is one of the top notch 4 MP digicam.
Swivel LCD is really nice.

Look at it this way.
If you think you are not going to learn more about photography, get S400.
Not willing to pay for G3 price and want to learn more ? get A70.
Want to be able to learn more & deeper about photography ? get G3.
