I think I have narrowed my long quest for a digital camera down to the following choices:

Canon S330
Canon S200 (do not really know what the differences are on these two besides the price yet?)
Kodak DX4900

I like the Canon ones because they are small. I am going to be doing a lot of traveling so that is a really good thing. The Kodak has 4.0 MP while the Canons only have 2.1. How much will I notice this difference on my computer?

Which camera would you guys get, and what are you reasons. Any other suggestions you have for a solid well built camera that will take a good picture even if the operator is bad. I am not looking to spend too much cash here. So none of those $700+ cameras here! I am really looking to stay around $350. Thanks for any info or help.

Wrong place for this post. Go to a camera forum, you will get more responses.

All Kodak cameras only have a 2x zoom, a real disadvantage!

I feel Cannon is somewhat overpriced and somewhat overratted though not as bad as Phony..........er............ I meant Sony!

i put my canon on ebay the same moment I compare pictures made on Sony f707.
And i got it later for 800 from Dell (100 off and 10% stackable) and PM to online store to get aditional $200 off, so $600 is a good price for it.
o, for another $100 I got 2x and x.47, so go figure my zoom

imo kodak has no place in the digital camera world. if i were to buy a SECOND camera, i woudl only consider something from the big 4--canon, sony, nikon, and olympus.

if you plan to PRINT (which i dont)... then at large sizes like 5x7 and 8x10.. you would benefit from the higher resolution

however, if its just for casual shooting... pixel for pixel... the canon will have better color saturation, tone, contrast, etc etc

i have the s330 and i like it

I have a Canon S300 and I love it. :) There are subtle differences between the S330 and the S300, but they're generally the same. Nice small size, 3x optical (the S200 has a 2x optical zoom), and great picture quality.

The S330 and S200 both have a 2.1MP CCD and can grab pictures at 1600x1200 resolution. The 4MP cameras have a max resolution of 2400x1600. 1600x1200 should be enough for most people -- if you plan on getting your digicam shots developed on paper, 1600x1200 images look great at up to sizes of 8x10.

If you really want a small camera with a great feature set, take a look at the Minolta Dimage X. It's unbelievably small and has an internal zoom. It basically means that it powers up faster and you won't have to wait very long while the lens expands and contracts.

I love my S300, but I'd seriously consider getting a Dimage X if I were in the market for a digicam right now. Either camera is great and I don't think you could go wrong either way.
