haven't played Source... I do like 1.6 but I almost exclusively play uwc3 mod. Does Source have any mods like that?

Source of course. 1.6 is no competition, and the only people who pick 1.6 are the ones to cheap to buy HL2.

you mean too cheap to buy a new computer and/or network...that is why source only has half the amount of people playing on 1.6.....but once they all get a newer computer, they would switch to source. 1.6 is like agp, it's going to die, not as soon as agp but it will.

Source. "The best version of CS" discussions have been around forever. There were always people who hated CurrentVersion, even 1.6. Those who hated didn't agree on which OlderVersion was best, but they all agreed that CurrentVersion sucked compared to them.

well since my new centrino laptop only has integrated graphics that will have 1.6; so when I'm in class to kill time I'll play some 1.6 baby

and my mad desktop will have source

1.6 = Tactical Game
CS:S = Noob fragfest ala Quake 3.

I think that the people that made the weapons for CS:S needed to actually use them in real life before making them.

1.6 fo sho, lol at the guy who said bullet hole are random, maybe you just don't know where your bullets are going!

u clearly know nothing about guns or gunfights if you think 1.6 is somehow realistic lol.

and there really is no real difference in the fundamental gameplay of 1.6vs source. source is jsut enhanced and has better immersion. much nicer. the newer levels and models they've addded through steam are just incredible.

ugh, cant stand 1.6 since source came out. source is a nice engine...very scalable too for the older gen graphics cards (like mine).

First that doesn't make any sense since they are quite similar but what I really want to know is how Quake 3 is a noob fragfest. I didn't play Q3A as much as the others, but the players that played it and still do are pretty damn skilled at the fast paced FPS style play! CS has so much more non-gamers playing it.. man everyone knows what Counterstrike is. So that's way more noobish than Q3A ever was.

I didn't claim they were realistic, but with the improved Physics it should have bumped it up to a more realistic level, which it didn't. And for the record, I trained inthe correct use of FIrearms during my time in the Royal Navy. The game that comes closest to real world accuracy in firearms is Americas Army.

Graphics doesn't make the game; physics doesmn't make the game; gameplay makes the game and CS:S lost it.

I still have CS intall files for some of the better beta versions, from beta1 up to 1.1 I agree, the fun factor went down hill after 1.0. The early beta days you knew it was skill against skill, not skill against cheat.

I just do not have the old HL updates. I lost part of a hard drive, and all of the past HL updates got wiped out.

1.6, Source still is buggy & feels unpolished (netcode & hitbox settings a bit off). 1.6 is still the premier game when it comes to tournaments, Source needs to be improved.
