Bugs and spiders really don't freak me out but I just don't want them on me. I do get the creeps from silverfish and firebrats though as they are so damn ugly. Also, I had a life altering experience with a giant praying mantis when I was young so you can add that to the list as well.

I used to have spiders at the top of my list but then I lived in a place that had a serious centipede problem. Those things are nasty. They even eat spiders.

Spiders. I got a brown recluse bite on my foot a few years ago - had an open running sore the size of a silver dollar on my instep for over a month.

A kid I used to work with got bit by a brown recluse, he had like hole in his arm the size of a nickel or dime...it was crazy. I'm not sure if a doctor removed the tissue around the bite or what.

I didn't have to have anything removed - it did become infected and they put me on antibiotics, but eventually it healed up pretty well. The bizarre thing was that it looked incredibly painful, but it never hurt at all.

It didn't seem to bother him incredibly either. He had a band-aid on his arm at first, so I didn't even bother to ask. When it healed up some, he stopped wearing it and there was a deep hole in his arm like I said. Perhaps he didn't realize he was bitten and allowed it to get infected. I dunno.

millipedes / centipedes ARE FREAKING NASTY!!!

spiders are ok.. until they get HUGE then i will get freaked out.

Spiders. I know most of them here are harmless, even helpful in terms of mosquito control. But they invade my space and their webs stick in your hair. I've even had them try and descend onto me while driving my car. :Q Even daddy longlegs bother me because they like to live in my shower. When they're outside and not on me, I'm fine with them, but inside is not okay.

geez, wonder who voted for lizards? you show no love to those cute cameleons? 😉

I guess I'm the only one that's scared of lizards. I actually don't mind chameleons at all.

Spiders, by a long shot. The bigger & hairier ones absolutely terrify me, we get wolf spiders up to about 2.5" across around where I live :| Completely irrational. At least it's not SoCal with the tarantulas - or so I've heard - anyone with firsthand experience there want to comment?

I have tons of house centipedes here, and while I wouldn't exactly let one crawl all over me, I just go 'ew', squash them, and throw 'em in the garbage - done deal. They're zippy lil fuggers too, looks like they're running along at a good 10mph or so when they decide to get a move on. Snakes & lizards I don't mind in the least, would handle them np (unless they're poisonous, but that's just common sense).

i voted worms but slugs and snails really freak me out

i am not even remotely afraid of anything else not even snakes unless there is like a mass of them like with fear factor

i couldnt handle it anything except maybe the worms but definitely not slugs or snails

I detest spiders but for some reason tarantulas don't bug me. I use to keep them as pets, and they are not bristly or spiny or hard but soft and fuzzy, sort of like a cat but with more legs. I guess they can bite, but they never bit me and I let them crawl on my arms and stuff. They decapitate crickets too, it's pretty cool to feed them.

I saw a brown mitsubishi spider last year with the license plate RECLUSE. I thought that was clever 🙂

that is clever. 🙂

Originally posted by: lirion I've been thinking about this for a while, I've got to hear the story 😛 I've never known caterpillars to really creep people out. Even little kids usually like them and let them crawl all over them, so what happened to you?

I guess I'll vote caterpillar too. I was going to propose bees or wasps or other stinging insects but this is already on the list so.. we'll go with that.

lots of those things are icky/gross me out.. some of them startle me.. I've been known to scream when I come across a lizard or snake (I'ma girl, it's socially acceptable for me to scream when I come across a snake) but I'm not afraid of them..

I'm afraid of things that sting, because I have bad reactions from pretty much all of 'em. first time I saw one of those caterpillars I thought it was pretty cool lookin' and caught it and put it in a jar on the kitchen table with some leaves and stuff, thinkin' on watching to see what it turned into.. went to work, swelled up like the willy wonka blueberry gal.. now they scare me. and bees and wasps and yellow jackets and those other flying stinging things.. and scorpions.

edit: no it's not.. heh. Ok.. I'm gonna abstain from voting since I'm not afraid of any of that stuff. 🙂

I don't mind little spiders too much, but any of the hairy ones scare the crap outta me.

Don't like clowns either - they are evil.

house centipedes SUCK... nasty little things.. fast too...

but really everyone.. no one hates Silverfish??? nasty bastards....

isnt there a centipede or something thats like the size of a football? you try to squish it but it just laughts and eats your foot?

centipeds for sure

i used to live at a place where centipeds (some of them were huge finger sized) would crawl out of the plumbing and even out of a crack between the wall and the bath tub. one time while taking a bath a centiped fell in the water. fvcking gross. :disgust:
