Which CPU would overclock BEST nowadays ?

Hi, I have P3 700 @ 1050 Mhz and I feel like I'd like to do an upgrade now. I am preety sure I will go the AMD route. I've built several duron machine and overclock it happily.

What CPU would you get for less than $200 that will overclock BEST.

Please give some advice as which setup is the best. (I am leaning towards Athlon 1.2 Ghz w/ MSI K7T Turbo)

are you looking for a DDR based system or not? If not I would recommend the Iwill kk266 for overclocking, it's great!

I guess I could use a DDR system, if it overclocks better... from what I read DDR system doesn't provide that much system performance upgrade, is that right ?

What would you suggest ? Athlon 1.2 Ghz DDR ?

For less than $200, you might want to try either the 1GHz AXIA's or the 1.33GHz AXIA Y's or AHJYA's

I apologize for my ignorance, but what is AMD AXIA ? How is it different from regular thunderbird or DDR athlon ?

Oh they're Tbirds... just with a different stepping code that is supposedly more conducive/better for overclocking. Check out Compuwiz's site to get some 🙂
