which CPU would be the best bang for the buck?

which of these CPUS should I get for price/performance ratio? I would also like to know how big of a performance increase that I would see from upgrading my Athlon Xp 3000?

The San Diego he recommended is S939. I also have one.
Unfortunately AMD raised the prices on A64 cpus. What was $212 yesterday is $219 today on Newegg.

I saw "best bang for the buck/will be overclocking" and immediately looked for the Sempron choice... but alas it wasn't to be found. So, a $120 Venice 3000 is second best.

Best bang for the buck? Without a doubt the Opty 165. Dual core proc for $325 that almost everyone has been able to get to x2 4800+ speeds or better on stock air cooling and below 1.5 vCore.

It's more than the single core venice procs, but definately the best bang for the buck, especially if you plan to overclock.

do you have a price limit? are your only options the amd64 line? If so, I would highly recommend a 3200+, the DH-E3's OC's like CRAZY

If you're in the $120 price range and can stretch a little, the Opteron 144 would be a much better buy.
