Which CPU voltage is the real one?

When I increase the voltage on my X2 3800+ Windsor on my M2N-E board's bios, all software programs read it as .05v higher than my settings. For example if I set 1.5volts, the program will read 1.55 volts and will flucuate. My temperatures are fine at around 50C under load at 2.8GHZ. It is said that you should keep the voltage on this chip under 1.55 volts, would that mean what the program reads as 1.55volts or what I set the voltage to in the bios? Thanks in advance.

Bottom line is that the only way to know the voltage is to read it with a quality voltmeter. Both the BIOS set voltage and the BIOS read voltage can be high or low. What I've seen is differences in the 0.05-0.08 volt range with high or low. Usually, you can do a little google search to find the easiest place to get voltmeter readings off the motherboard components.
