Which CPU to keep

I'm upgrading so I will have a cpu to sell. Which one should I keep, the Q8200 or the E8400? It will go into a mobo that doesn't't oveclock and will be used by my granddughter for playing Dirt3 with my son and I.

i'd go with the E8400. fast dual is better than a slower quad for games.

for games like Dirt 3 the Q8200 would be faster.

It seems like they're preety close with the E8400 just ahead in most apps and games, but will the games for the upcoming two years take advantage of the 4 cores??

yes more games will use more cores but a Q8200 is pretty slow with its reduced cache and low 2.33 clockspeed. really its probably a toss up as neither cpu is going to be all that great over the next 2 years. as it is now the E8400 is probably faster in most cases.

Yes, the e8400 is probably slightly better. As an added bonus, you should get a decent resale on the Q8200.

Thanks for the help guys, it's appreciated. I was going to upgrade to a 9550 but now I think I'll just run the cpu's I have for now and upgrade the whole system in a in a year.
