I have an Asus P3B-F. What would be a better upgrade, a P3 800 or an MSI K7T Pro 2 & a Duron which I could probably overclock?

P.S. I mostly use my PC for gaming.

TIA, Micron

Also, what do you think of the STEP Enhanced Duron 700>900MHz Socket A CPU W/STEP KODIAK 6180 Cooling System?

The P3 800 would be damn fast. And so would upgradnig to a duron and overclocking it to a 1ghz. If your tight on money go for the 800, if your not go for the duron.

Money is a factor, but I can get a STEP Enhanced Duron 700>900MHz W/STEP KODIAK 6180 and a MSI K7T PRO2-A for the same price as a retail PIII 800. So, I think I will go for the Duron and hope for 1GHZ.

Get the Duron with MSI K7T PRO2-A board, you can always upgrade later to a Thunderbird & overclock that.

the step-thermodynamics heatsink looks like the fop32-1 i got for 20$. the only difrence i see is that theirs has a diffrent fan and a reostat that could be easly put together from radio shack in a few moments. i saw some cool stuff there in the past, pelters and stuff, but what they have now looks overpriced and easy to do at home.

oh ya if you have ram you know can do 133 get the duron and new board, otherwise get a p3e.

there you go, a t-bird is always nice. they can be had for under 100$ now too. my 750 is kind of a weak overclocker, but it does 110x8.5 just fine.

Thunderbird 800
FOP32-1
Arctic Silver
MSI K7T PRO-2A

Is this a little better ;)?

I don't have any experience with the T-Birds/Durons, so I can't really comment on them. But they are rather inexpensive. But the best place I have found to get RETAIL Intel CPU's is GoogleGear.com

Hope that helped. :)
