I can't really decide which cpu should I get ... I play games very rarely , and I'm thinking of putting linux on that machine ... I do a lot of programming , web browsing(of course) :) , and other stuff .... I need cpu that won't be very expensive , but still would have a good quality.. preferably under $200 .

Thank you,
bye.

yeah, that sounds like a good sugestion....if you spent a little extra $$$ on a good mobo, you could OC that thing and turn into a gaming rig if you ever felt the need....

...just a thought (Duron 600 gets my vote)

without saying what your motherboard is,thats kind of tough. If your mo/bo is a bx chipset then a p3700e or for much less a cel2-633.If you are going to get a new mo/bo and cpu, them in my opinion, the amd path has the most future,I feel that the mo/bo will have a longer useable upgradeable lifespan.

if you want to use pc-100 sdram , and can't afford pc133, then go with the celeron 633 @ 950.

The duron @950 is not that much faster when using SLOW pc-100 sdram
