I want to upgrade the CPU in my system, this is what I have right now:

AMD Thunderbird 1.2Ghz
Asus A7M266
512MB Crucial PC2100 DDR
Geforce4 Ti4400 128MB
Antec SX1035

Which CPU should I get? I plan to overclock if it's possible. I already ordered a Thermalright SLK-800 and Vantec Tornado 80mm fan. I was going to order the 2400+, but now I'm thinking about saving $150 and getting the 1600+ and trying to OC it.

Any suggestions?

I am running an AMD 2200+ on my A7M266. I posted a write up under "general hardware" under the title "A7M266 and AMD 2200+". Sorry I don't have the thread. I wrote out everything I needed to do to get the CPU running. Not too difficult, but it took me some time finding the info. It's running great! I also have a Coolermaster HHC-001 HSF, and keeps it at around 45 C idle, 48-49 C after running some intense games. Hope this helps you out.

Try overclocking your 1.2GHz first? With good cooling you should be able to hit 1400-1500MHz. Otherwise, definately go for the 1600+ with AGOIA-Y stepping, most of them hit 1700-1750MHz at default voltage.
